Photography Tips

The photos you use must be in .gif, .jpeg, or .bmp file format. They should be no larger than 100K each, and preferred sizes are 320x240 pixels for landscape and 220x332 for portrait. If you need to reduce the file size of your photos (and you have no desktop software capable of carrying out this task), you may choose to download a small program that will allow you to resize your images on your desktop. You can download a free program called Irfanview at www.irfanview.com

To place photos online you will need to have access to a digital camera or a scanner, or you may be able to get them developed into digital format. A digital camera will take photos in electronic format whilst a scanner will convert traditional photos to digital format. Please consult retailers and/or user manuals for advice on using these items.

There are two important points here:

1.

It is very important that the photos you send in are original size or at least 800 x 600 pixels (this is the ideal size) The reason for this - reducing the size of the original photo doesn't effect the quality of the image increasing the size of the original photo does effect the quality of the image. It blows out' or ‘pixelates'

2. Take the photo with a horizontal camera rather than a vertical camera for the same reasons. Photo viewers on websites are sized for horizontal images not vertical.

Tips For Photography:

External
1. Take photos of the front of your property on a sunny day and ensure there is no obstacles obscuring property (ie cars etc).
Internal
1. Ensure your property is presentable - put away any clutter and clean where necessary.

2.

Take photos of rooms with natural lighting coming through windows. (these may have to be carried out at different times of the day as the sun moves around your property).
